My work is currently showing at the National Glass Centre as part of its final exhibition, The Graduates, until 31st July.
The Graduates is the final exhibition presented at National Glass Centre before the building closes at the end of July 2026. The show is a celebration of achievement, showcasing the artists who have studied at National Glass Centre and developed careers working with glass and ceramics. I am showing the pieces Human Resources I & II which are a response to the sad closure of the National Glass Centre and Glass and Ceramics Courses.
My career in glass is thanks to National Glass Centre. A work experience opportunity in the NGC hot glass demonstration team during my BA at Manchester Met set my direction for glass and I returned to become a studio tenant in 2003, staying for 9 years. I studied for my doctorate at the University of Sunderland and developed my glass studio practice hiring making facilities.
In 2016 I became a member of staff as Waterjet Technician and continued as an exhibiting artist. Being part of the NGC21 exhibition and my work being acquired by National Glass Centre for its collection is a particular highlight.
It is a moment of pride and yet bittersweet to be invited to exhibit in this show amongst renowned international names in the world of contemporary glass and ceramics. I am grateful to the NGC and Glass and Ceramics staff and alumni past and present who have supported my glass journey.https://www.sunderlandculture.org.uk/whats-on/the-graduates/
